Remembrance Day

The Minutes Silence is when you remember the people that went to war. Every time I do the Minutes Silence it makes me think of one of my family that went to the war for freedom. This way I can love him even though I never met him.

In war people use heart values. When people go to war they are confident and brave and strong. They can shoot far in an instant. They can play a bugle it sounds fantastic, cool, amazing and fabulous. Its sad when people get shot and others cry and cry. Poppy's grow when people pass on. When people come out of war they get medals and people run to them when they go home.

On Remembrance Day we always do the minute silence to remember the soldiers who went fighting in the war. You have to shut your eyes while you are doing the one minute silence. You need to show heart and remember the men who went fighting in the war.

Just found this lovely picture of Room 7, taken when we had our Duffy Assembly at the end of term 1.
Term 2 is underway!!! We have had a lovely, restful holiday and are raring to go this term!! We are learning all about Forces and Energy this term! Whaea Lucy is with us for the next few weeks in Room 7 too. We are looking forward to her teaching us all about our NZ weather. She already made beautiful Samoan Siapo patterns with us! We can't wait for Samoan Language Week and the Samoan Independence Celebration in Week 6! Bring it On Term 2!! Have a look at some websites with learning about forces/ weather and Siapo pattern here!

Term 1 has been amazing!

We have learned so much this term! Most of all we are all settled into our class routines and we are working together as a team!! We have worked on our first value - TEAMWORK - we know what that looks like and sounds like! We finished our term by having an Easter Egg Hunt! Some of our groups had lots and lots of eggs but other groups had hardly any! We decided to share our eggs equally across the class so that every group could take some home in their little Easter baskets that we made! We love to share!!
Have a look at our highlights this term so far.

Bring on the new Year Room 7!!

Room 7 is beginning to take shape as the new Year 3/4 classroom. I will post up a stationary list for you soon.

Meanwhile I hope you have all had a lovely, safe Christmas. New Year or Hogmanay as it is known in Scotland is a time for celebrating with your family - reflecting on the old year and welcoming the new one! Its a time to think about a New Year Resolution - mine is to eat less and exercise more!! What might you have as a goal for the New Year ahead?

Looking forward to all the exciting things we will do in 2012 Room 7!
