Our Te Papa Trip

Last week on  Thursday 16th June Whanau Awhinatia hopped on a bus and made their way to Te Papa in Wellington. We went to learn about Matariki and what it means to the Maori culture. When we got there we had morning tea outside. After everyone ate we went inside and we sat in a little area.Later we met Keryn and Riria who were the people that were going to teach us about Matariki. I felt excited because Matariki is a very interesting subject to learn about. I really enjoyed the Star Lab and the Pasifika Patterns but what I didnt enjoy was the bus ride because I felt sick and it was too loud. I learned how to find Matariki using the stars and what shapes you can see like the Fish and hook. I want to find more information about how special Matariki was to the Maori's back then and I also want to learn more about other cultures. It was a lovely day and I hope everyone had fun.
